Dakota County High Performance Partnership (HiPP)
Jake has been attending HiPP meetings on sustainability in government operations,
including a meeting this past Thursday. A group of staff persons from communities
across the county have been working together to identify ways to improve the energy
efficiency of local government operations. While it is easy to spin off on tangent’s
with this topic, Jake reports that the group is staying focused on ideas that can save
our communities money first, areas where we need more education second, and only
touching on broader topics such as global warming, peak oil, etc. The group will be
pulling together a report to the Dakota County Mayors & Managers group for their
September meeting.

New Shepard Among Us
Congratulations to Mike and Tamara Shepard on the birth of their first child. Kaylynn Jean Marie Shep-
ard was born at 9:04 PM on 08/06/08. She was 7 lbs. 15 oz. and a whopping 22.5 inches long!!
It was a very long and difficult labor and scary at the end for everyone, but all are now doing very well.
Proud Papa Mike reports that Kaylynn is just a wonderful baby and is sleeping and eating beautifully.
