SAD NEWS
We were notified this week by John Morson, that his father Jerry had died
(see obituary). Jerry was a long-time member of the City’s Planning
Commission and was it’s Chair for many years and was known by our
Police Department and Fire Department members. His son John was a
West St. Paul dispatcher for many years and Jerry served the City with
great distinction and was very devoted to the City. We will miss him and
we all send our sympathy to his family.

VILLAGE UPDATE
Jake and I did a walking tour of the ABC Building this week. It is looking good and is very
close to completion. The streets are being reopened to traffic, the sidewalks are done, the land-
scaping is in and the Snyders Drug Store space is being finished. Snyders will be the first occu-
pant of the new building, and signage for the store was approved by the City Council this week.
4TH OF JULY
This Friday is the 4th of July; as a Federal Holiday, City Offices will be closed.
The City Council once again agreed to cooperate with Mendakota Country Club and sponsor a
fireworks display for the community. Besides providing some funding for the fireworks the
City also provides extra police and fire protection for the event. The fireworks will be
launched from the Mendakota Country Club beginning about 10:00 P.M. The fireworks are
visible from many locations in the City: Mendakota Park, Rogers Lake Park, Mendota Plaza
Shopping Center, The Village of Mendota Heights, City Hall, St. Thomas Academy and Sibley
High School to name some locations. Remember Mendakota Country Club is private property
and should not be used as a viewing location

This week NDC4 officially kicked-off it’s new web-streaming capability. You can now watch
Mendota Heights public meetings live or on-demand from anywhere in the world. You can link
to the NDC4 web page via www.mendota-heights.com. You can watch all or portions of meet-
ings by clicking on items on the agenda.

The application deadline for Sue McDermott’s replacement has passed, and we have a number of qualified
candidates. Interviews are being set up for next week, I’m looking forward to meeting with our candidates.
