Mendota Plaza Plan Passes Planning Commission
The Mendota Heights Planning Commission reviewed a planning
application to redevelop the Mendota Plaza this past Tuesday evening.
After 3 hours of presentation and discussion the commission voted 4:3 to
recommend approval of the application. Included in the application were
a number of requests: Preliminary Plat, Preliminary PUD, Wetlands
Permit, Conditional Use Permit and Rezoning request. A number of
conditions were placed on the approval.
The matter will come before the City Council at their August 5 meeting.

Curb and Gutter
Luckily this week Tom Knuth and Ryan Ruzek were able to find the time to give me a
Curb and Gutter 101 tutorial, so I could handle calls regarding the Avenues reconstruc-
tion project. Each of us spent some time in the neighborhood listening to resident’s
concerns. While Ryan assures me that this project was on par with other reconstruction
projects, I have earned a better appreciation for the work that our Engineering Depart-
ment does every day.
5 Tuesdays...
This month has five Tuesdays, which means a week with no regularly scheduled pub-
lic meetings. Staff has taken advantage of this to get caught up on projects, and work
though our inboxes. Next week we’ll be prepping for a busy Council Meeting on
August 5.
Par 3 Construction Update
Staff has received a couple of calls regarding the stalled progress on the Clubhouse
remodel at the Par 3. The process slowed down for a couple of construction deci-
sions. As a result, the project fell out of sync with a couple of sub-contractors. The
Public should expect to see some significant progress next week.
The plan does not vary a lot from previous plans—conversation focused on the char-
acter of the development, treatment of the wetlands on site, and proposed architec-
ture. A lot of time was spent on how the existing building will be updated through
the process.

heights.com.
