NOC Meeting
This Wednesday was the bi-monthly meeting of the MAC’s Noise
Oversight Committee (NOC). Liz Petschel, Airport Relations
Commission Chair represented the City on the Committee and Sally
Lorberbaum. Jake Sedlacek and I also attended. During the meeting
nighttime operations of our runway (12L) were discussed. The Mendota
Heights ARC had discussed at their recent meeting that nighttime
operations were noticeably reduced from 12L and were pleasantly
surprised by this. At the NOC meeting Carl Rydeen, FAA Tower
Supervisor reported that the reason for the reduction was ongoing taxiway
reconstruction adjacent to the runway. Liz expressed a concern that, if for
some reason, reported numbers are unusual, that reason should be made
known. “Artificial” numbers cause confusion and should be explained.
The next day Chad Leqve, MAC noise investigated Carl’s claim that the
low operation numbers off 12L were caused by runway construction
closures and found that he was not correct.
Both Chad and Carl have been invited to the August ARC meeting, where
we can try and sort this all out. It pays to be vigilant over the Airport—
good going Liz!

Bubble Bath at the Village
Someone threw bubble bath soap in the fountain at the Village Green on Wednesday night. Of-
ficer Von Felt responded and reported that the bubbles were six feet high and rising...he did not
catch the perpetrator, but thought the resulting bubbles in the fountain were “very pretty”. Of-
ficer Meyer reported that he checked the next morning and the bubbles were still rising.
Fishing Derby
The Cliff Timm Memorial Fishing Derby was held this past Wednesday on a beautiful, if not a
little hot, evening. While Teresa was not here to give us the official tally today, these are the
numbers Jake was able to “hook” from the event board. 51 one youth reeled in 479 fish. The
largest fish appears to be a 3 5/8 oz sunfish, the smallest fish caught was a tie between a couple
of ¼ oz sunfish (Can you really weigh a fish that size?). Thank you to all of our registrants, vol-
unteers and sponsors!

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!!
Sympathy to Tom Olund
This week Public Works Superintendent Tom Olund’s father also lost his battle with cancer. Tom’s father was
a Mendota Heights resident since 1954 when he lived off Pilot Knob Road in the neighborhood acquired by
MAC. After MAC acquired that home he moved to his home on Freeway Road. Our sympathies go out to
Tom and his entire family.
