PAR 3 CLOSED FOR THE SEASON
The Mendota Heights Par 3 finished up the Golf Season Sunday, November 11. While it is
possible that the course may re-open for Thanksgiving weekend, the course has been prepped for
winter. Taking over course operations proved to be a challenge, but the course finished the year
slightly ahead of projected revenue. Now the planning for 2008 gets into full gear, including
developing and promoting programs, considering fees and charges, and a staffing plan for our
first full year of operations.
Fire sprinkler system was installed in the Par 3 Golf maintenance building this week and the “dry
system” will be activated next week following minor concrete floor repair and installation of a
small space heater to keep the water feed line inside the building to the “dry” fire sprinkler
system from freezing.
PILOT KNOB
Last Tuesday the Parks and Recreation Commission reviewed the final Draft of the “Pilot Knob
Hill Natural Resource Management Plan” and recommended that the City Council adopt the
plan. The plan is to restore the 15 acre parcel to be purchased from Acacia Cemetery following a
Public Hearing by the City Council. The plan also addresses construction of trails, overlooks,
restoring the site to a prairie /oak savannah similar to what conditions were like in 1850, parking
area and possible future use of the area by visitors to this historic site.
CITY HALL
Painters, this week, have been refinishing the wood ceilings in the Council Chambers, lobby area
and building entrance vestibules. Sheetrock repairs and repainting of the lobby ceiling and
painted areas in the Council Chambers will be completed early next week.
EXTREME MAKE-OVER, ENGINEERING EDITION
Public Works Director will return to new digs when she comes back from an Engineering
Conference. Her previous furniture, which has been archeologically dated to sometime just after
the Iron Age, has been replaced with newer modular furniture. While we’re not entirely sure
what all is integrated into Sue’s new office, Jake and I have a feeling that there may actually be a
wet-bar, but haven’t found it yet.
TERESA BECOMES GRANDMA – AGAIN!!
Teresa Gangelhoff became grandma again over last weekend. Her daughter Jaime gave birth to
Ellie Maye at 1:43 a.m. on Sunday Nov. 11. She weighed 5 lb. 6 oz. 18 ½ inches long. She
arrived about 6 weeks early but is breathing on her own and has a feeding tube as she does not
know how to nurse yet. The hospital said that this is normal for a preemie. She has pictures (of
course) if anyone would like to see them!
KATHY SWANSON BECOMES GRADMA AGAIN!
Kathy Swanson became a grandma again! Grandbaby No. 3, baby girl Brooklyn Kathleen, born
Tuesday night, November 14th at 10:45 p.m. weighing 6 lbs. 7 oz. and 19 ½ inches long to her
son, Robert and his girlfriend. Mom and baby are doing well and came home on Thursday.
GOOD LUCK TO MAKENZIE
Makenzie Sedlacek (5) went through an open chest procedure on her heart this Friday to try and
improve blood flow from her heart to her lungs. We hear that everything went well as of 1 p.m.,
but we are all thinking about her and wish her a successful operation and a speedy recovery.
2008 HOLIDAY PARTY
Council Member Schneeman is working on arranging our annual City Holiday Party, this year at
“The Sage”. The tentative date is Friday January 18th so please mark your calendars.
