NO PARKING
In October the Cit y Council adopted a 2-6 a.m. on-street Parking Ban Ordinance (attached). Before this
ordinance can be enforced it needed to be published in the City’s official newspaper and have street signs
posted alerting people to the rule. We have had some difficulties with both the State and the County in trying to
have them allow us to put the signs in their right of way. We have installed some of those signs anyway.
On Wednesday of this wee k, after 12 a.m., the PD began placing the attached warning under car windows of
cars they found in violation of the new ordinance. They placed approximat ely 75 warnings. (The
neighborhoods that they hit were south of TH110 and east of Dodd Road). On Thursday, City Hall received
some angry emails and phone calls from the owners of those cars. Some of these callers have promised to
attend next week’s City Council meeting to continue to voice their objections.
A NEW SEDLACEK ARRIVES
Jake and Heidi were expecting a new baby due in the middle of January, but babies don’t always understand
due dates. Well, this Monday morning, 6 weeks early, Tyler Jacob Sedlacek was born in at 5 lbs 5 oz and
measuring 18.5” long. Tyler is in the ICU but Jake says that he is doing well breathing and eating and should
be able to come home soon. Congrats to Jake, Heidi and sister McKenzie.
2007 BLUE RIBBON SCHOOL
At this week’s City Council meeting, the City Council will recognize Mendota Elementary School for having
been named as a 2007 No Child Left Behind – Blue Ribbon School. The Council asked me to invite the
principal in to receive recognition from the City for this achievement. Mendota Elementary was one of only
200 schools nationally and 8 schools in the State to receive this honor.
Respectfully submitted,
Jim Danielson
City Administrator
