NEW FACES AT CITY HALL
Sandie Thone is the new Utility Billing/Administrative Secretary and has replaced Judy Wonick.
Sandie was one of our Police Secretaries prior to accepting this position.
Pam Deeb and Sharon Hinze are our new Receptionist/Clerks. They are job-sharing (both part -
time employees) and have replaced Janet Bolger. Please welcome them to City Hall.
TOUGH PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING
On Tuesday evening this week, the Planning Commission held a public hearing to consider a
request from T-Mobile to place a 120’ monopole in Wentworth Park. This proposal has
generated significant opposition from the neighbors. The City Council Chambers was crowded
and o ver a dozen neighbors came to the podium and expressed their opposition to the proposal of
the Public Hearing. The Planning Commission identified several items of additional information
that they wanted from the applicant and voted to continue the public hearing for discussion of the
item at their May 23rd meeting. In light of the level of opposition expressed Tuesday evening,
Staff has placed an item on the May 2nd City Council agenda to ask the City Council if they wish
to reconsider whether or not the City is still interested in leasing park land to T-Mobile. If the
answer is no, it will render the planning application mute.
Congratulations to the Planning Commission, who Tuesday evening did of an admirable job
handling this very controversial and complex issue.
ADMINISTRATIVE PROFESSIONAL DAY
Wednesday of this week, was Administrative Professional’s Day (formerly Secretary’s Day).
Most of us on the upper floor of City Hall went out at noon on Thursday to Granite City
(former ly Sydney’s in Eagan) to celebrate the event. Even Linda was there, with her now
smaller sized cast. Granite City was a very nice restaurant with a nice atmosphere and good
food.
SIREN UPDATE
Wednesday was National Preparedness Day, so we tested our five sirens and two of them failed
(LeMay Lake and Wentworth). We have scheduled both of these sirens for repair. This test
failure does highlight the need for residents to have their own personal weather alert radios.
These radios are are available at Radio Shack for about $20.00.
Respectfully submitted,
Jim Danielson
