JANET IS LEAVING US
We were sad to find out this week that our receptionist, Janet Bolger, is resigning to take a job at
the City of Eagan. Janet will be working for Maria Peterson (Karels) in Eagan. Maria was our
receptionist here at Mendota Heights many years ago and is now the City Clerk for Eagan.
Maria has made a huge success of herself since leaving Mendota Heights – we all hope Janet will
have equally as good of luck. We are having a farewell luncheon for Janet next Thursday at
noon in the City Council chambers. Anyone who would like to join us to wish Janet the best,
please contact Nancy.
GOOD NEWS – BAD NEWS
If your name is Trevor Brown, it’s bad news. You were just found guilty again and you were
sentenced to life in prison. For the rest of us, it’s good news. Congratulations go out to Mario
and Neil who did great police work in ensuring this low life will not be free to hurt anybody else
again.
FIRE CALL
The Fire Department was called out in the middle of the night on Monday of this week for a
house fire on Miriam Street. The fire started in a bedroom, and it is believed that it was started
as a result of someone who was smoking in bed. Two brothers and a father were all awakened in
time to get out of the house in time to avoid injury. The house had working fire detectors,
however there were not any fire detectors in the bedrooms. Today’s code requires that fire
detectors be installed in each bedroom – if this home had been built recently, the damage would
have been greatly reduced. Total damage to this home is estimated at $30,000.00.
Respectfully submitted,
Jim Danielson
