2005-11-10 Friday NewsTHURSDAY NEWS
Tomorrow is Veteran's Day, which is a holiday for Federal, State and local
governments. City Hall will be closed, so we are doing the "Thursday News" this
week.
50 YEAR CELEBRATION
The Planning Committee for the City's 50th Anniversary/Parks Celebration met on
Wednesday night this week. The Commission has scheduled monthly meetings to be
held before the Parks & Recreation meetings. Some of this weeks topics of
discussion were the 5K/walk/run event, fun sport competitions, bands, fireworks,
parade, antique car show and other activities. Council Member Duggan is working
with Emmy to compose an article to be included in the upcoming issues of the
Heights Highlite.
IT UPDATE
Work continued this week on converting the City's computer system. The computers
were down for a while during this conversion. Now that the new servers are in and
operating, we will be beginning to backup all of our files for the first time — as soon
as the tapes arrive. Logis people along with Dakota County Staff were here working
with Stacy to make the conversion to Logis. We now will have a much better
firewall and spam filter.
Respectfully submitted,
Jim Danielson
