FIRE DEPARTMENT RETURNS THE FAVOR
On Monday morning the fire department was called to assist Inver Grove Heights in battling a fire
at the Moose Lodge on Concord Street in Inver Grove Heights. The department responded our
aerial "Squrt" to assist at the scene with a full crew of firefighters. Eagan Fire responded equipment
to staff both Inver Grove Stations during the event. Our firefighters were dispatched at about 06:00
hours and returned about noon.
It was exactly a week earlier that Inver Grove fire responded to our request for help with an engine,
an aerial, and a rescue truck to battle the fire on Lansford Lane. The working relationships that all
of the Dakota County Fire departments have is second to none. As a result, all of our residents
receive the best service possible for a very affordable price. A big thank you to the firefighters and
their families who dedicate their time and talents to make this all possible. They have had a very
busy week.
NEW POLICE OFFICER HIRED
This Tuesday night the City Council hired Denise Urman to be a new police officer for the City.
Besides being a qualified police officer, Denise is also a Certified EMT and Firefighter. She is
currently working as a Ramsey County Dispatcher. Denise will come to the July 19th meeting and
be sworn in by the Mayor and then begin her 16 weeks of Field Training under the supervision of
Officer Convery, Willson and VonFeldt. We have heard nothing but good things about Denise and
are looking forward to having her start.
NURT UPDATE
At this Tuesday’s City Council meeting, the City Council gave city staff the green light to hold an
informational meeting at the July 12th Parks and Recreation Commission with the 15 neighbors who
will be affected by moving the NURT Trail from between the frontage road and TH 110, to north
of the frontage road (Notices Attached). At the meeting many of the City Council members
expressed a serious concern about the possibility of not having a trail between Delaware and TH
110.
FISHING DERBY SET
Next Wednesday evening beginning at 6 P.M. Teresa Gangelhoff will be holding her annual fishing
derby at Rogers Lake Park. This is an extremely popular event so there is not any room for more
participants, but you may come and observe. NDC4 will be taping the event this year and we will
let you know when it will be aired. Cliff Timm will be there of course!!
Respectfully submitted,
Jim Danielson
City Administrator
