TRANSIT FORUM On Wednesday Morning, Jake attended a Transit Coordination Forum hosted by the Dakota County Office of Planning and DARTS at the Dakota County Technical College. Tom Gillapsy, our State Demographer started the day with an overview of anticipated demographic trends for the state in the coming years. He stressed the impact with the Baby Boom generation will have on service providers, and transit specifically. Following Mr. Gillapsy’s remarks, the crowd was split into 5 groups to brainstorm ideas about what a comprehensive approach to transportation might look like, and what barriers exist to creating greater transit opportunities. The event was well attended by Cities, the County, the Chamber of Commerce and several non-profit organizations. Dakota County will be taking the information and opinions from the forum, and provide attendees with a summary of their find- ings.
