Town Center
Ross Fefercorn attended this Tuesday’s City Council meeting to request approval of his Civic and Green
Space (landscaping) plans for Town Center’s outlots. The outlots in Town Center are owned by the City, so
the City is responsible for funding their landscaping work. The Development Contract the City has with
Ross provides that Ross’ contractor complete the work and Ross bill the City for the costs. There was
$400,000 allotted within Town Center’s budget for this work. Ross intends to complete the landscaping for
Outlot A yet this fall. Outlot A is located between Market Street and TH110 and it is important that this
outlot be landscaped soon because it is the “front door” to the project.
Paul Dorn, Ross’ realtor, was also at the meeting and he reported that traffic through the model townhouse
has been excellent. The model townhouse has been entered into this fall’s Parade of Homes and Paul
reported that about 300 people toured through it last weekend.
Each individual building within the project will also have its own landscape plan. Ross had Gateway Bank’s
landscape plan on the agenda for approval Tuesday. The Bank’s plan was specifically designed to match
outlot A’s design and to try and soften the look of the drive-through canopy from along Dodd Road.
Dakota County C.I.P.
Dakota County’s 2005-2009 C.I.P. was also on the City Council’s agenda this week. County projects that
were on the list to be completed in Mendota Heights were:
Upgrade of the traffic signal at Delaware Avenue’s intersection with TH110 – this project will add left
turn lanes on Delaware Avenue. It will be completed in 2005.
Lexington Avenue Trail – this is a trail to be constructed from Mendota Heights Road to Wagon Wheel
Trail and was originally scheduled for construction in 1999. It is now scheduled for this fall.
The North Urban Regional Trail (NURT) – this trail will extend from Dodd Road to Charlton Road and
will be constructed in 2005.
Fischer’s Service
Cliff Kirchner, long time owner/operator of Fischer’s, 2156 Dodd Road, located across Dodd Road from
Mendakota Park has sold his business. He and the new owners have sent the City the attached notices
informing us and his customers of the sale. I was interested in the news and the history of their site, so I have
attached their letters.
Holiday Party
Councilmember Schneeman has made reservations at the Pool and Yacht Club for Monday, December 6th
beginning at 5:00 P.M. for City employees, Councilmembers and Commissioners to gather for a Holiday
Party – mark your calendars!
