TOWN SQUARE ELECTION COVERAGE
Terese Cosgrove called this week to tell me that Town Square Television will be having election
coverage on Channel 14 on election day, November 2nd. They will be conducting live interviews
with candidates, posting results and showing pre-produced shows pertaining to elections. They will
also post results on their web site www.TownSquare.TV. The Mendota Heights candidates forum
that was filmed this past Monday will be replayed on Channel 18 – check Town Square’s website
for dates and times or call 651-450-9891.
SOMERSET GOLF COURSE UPGRADES
This Tuesday the City Council approved a Wetlands Permit, Conditional Use Permit and Variances
to allow for upgrades to Somerset Country Club’s maintenance facility. Along with the Country
Club’s construction, the City is currently reconstructing Emerson Avenue and expanding one of the
Golf Course’s storm water ponds on the site to accommodate the storm water from the Somerset
Neighborhood Street Project – the area will be a “war zone” throughout this fall. (Tom K and
Ryan are expanding their golf ball supply while doing the surveying and inspections for the City’s
project).
FISCHERVILLE CHANGES HANDS
Mike and Kathy Doyle, who recently purchased “Fisherville” (see attached history) from Cliff
Kirchner, were at this week’s City Council Meeting and received authorization to begin remodeling
the site to accommodate their kitchen cabinetry business.
FIRE PREVENTION WEEK
This week is Fire Prevention Week and to celebrate that fact, the Fire Department is having an open
house at the Fire Station this Saturday from 10 A.M. to 3 P.M. The Fire Department will be
conducting tours of the station, having car fire demonstrations at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., doing
blood pressure checks, teaching safety tips, having Fire Truck rides, playing bingo (with prizes for
the winners) and serving refreshments. Please stop by meet your Fire Fighters and join in the fun.
GATEWAY BANK
This Friday Pat and I toured the new Gateway Bank Building being constructed in Town Center.
John Shrier and Bruce Downey were there with their contractor learning how to “operate” their new
building. They told us that they will move in beginning next Friday.
PUBLIC WORKS CLOSED MONDAY
Public Works will be closed on Monday in honor of Columbus Day
Respectfully Submitted,
Jim Danielson
