2004-09-17 Friday News The Friday News September 17 2004 Mendota Heights Stands Out Again As you know, the State primary election was held on Tuesday. Once again, Mendota Heights stood out statistically from the State’s voter turnout. The overall State turnout of registered voters was 6.6% versus the Mendota Height’s registered voter turnout of 32.6%. Although it was a very hectic day for the City’s staff, the election was error-free and all of the precincts returned their materials to City Hall by 10:15. With one exception, all results had been sent by modem to the County well before 9:00 p.m. Congratulations to all of the polling place judges and chair people. They did an outstanding job, particularly considering that over half of the 47 judges were first time judges and four of the five chair people have never served in that capacity before. One had never even been an election judge before. Special thanks to Nancy Bauer for her exceptional work in preparing for and assisting in running the election and for her many extra hours spent working on election details on Tuesday and on Saturday. Thanks also to Janet Bolger, Guy Kullander, Tom Olund, Becky Pentel, Linda Shipton Len Kanitz and Judy Wonick for all of their assistance in making the election process so successful. Each of them went out of their way to help wherever they were needed, and, as always, they were an outstanding team to work with. LILYDALE ROAD Lower Lilydale Road was closed by MnDOT (for about 2 weeks) to allow for installation of curb and gutter and trail construction. MnDOT has informed us that they will reopen the road on Monday. TRAFFIC ON TH13 MnDOT began detouring traffic to work on TH5 (W 7th St) about 3 weeks ago. This detour causes a huge back up on TH13 at I-35E. Traffic backs up all the way past Lexington every morning. MnDOT has informed us that their TH5 work will be done no later than October 7th.
