TOWN CENTER UPDATE
Ross Fefercorn plans on beginning construction of “The Village” Commercial Buildings this month, so Ross,
Pat Hollister, Kristen Schabacker and I met with two members of the Metropolitan Council Staff this week to
go over the process for beginning to make draws on their grant money. The two Met Council staff members
who came out to discuss the process with us toured the site before they came and told us the process and
provided the forms for making claims. Ross told us all that Caribou Coffee will be the first tenant space to
be finished, and that the plan is to start finishing their space in July. He is currently finalizing leases with 9
tenants.
Although work has already actually already begun, Ross has scheduled the official ground breaking
ceremony for his Linden Loft Condominium building for December 9th (next Thursday) at 10:00 a.m.
Everyone is invited to be there.
COMMUNITY PARKS CONNECTION
Sue attended a meeting at NDC4 to discuss a new show that the station will be producing in 2005.
The show is called “Community Parks Connections”. The purpose of the show is to give City Park
and Recreation Departments the opportunity to share information with the public about what is
happening in their city. Stephanie LeGros from the Dakota County Parks Department will host the
half-hour show. The show will be taped four times a year with the first taping scheduled on January
5, 2005. Topics for discussion and interviews will be anything pertaining to parks and recreation in
the 7 cities in Northern Dakota County.
TOWN HALL AT TOWN CENTER
Mr Len Bohrer stopped in to see me this week with a surprise. One of his friends had given him a
picture of what he said was the original Mendota Town Hall. Len gave a copy of the picture to me
for the City’s records. I have attached a copy of the picture. The location of the old Town Hall is at
the intersection of Th110 and Dodd Road (Site of our new Town Center). Town Hall is the small,
windowless building on the left side of the picture. I am not sure what the building on the corner is
– Len said “a store”. We do not know the age of the photo, but we think the cars in the picture are
late 30’s. Anyone who has any more ideas or information about the photo please let us know.
Respectfully Submitted,
Jim Danielson
City Administrator
