CITY HALL SIGNS TO BE REPLACED
The City Hall is now 16 years old and the monument signs are showing signs of their age. Council wants to
keep the appearance of the City Hall up and they want our signs to meet the same standards that they expect
other property owners in the City to adhere to. Last Tuesday evening they approved the issuing of a
purchase order to Sign Art to replace the City’s two monument signs, one for the front entrance and one for
the Police Department entrance.
BUILDING PERMIT FEES
On Thursday of this week the Pioneer Press ran the attached article regarding the high building permit fees
charged by some cities. In 2002, the state required that cities complete a report that breaks down the
revenues vs. expenses relating to building permits and inspections, development costs and capital
expenditures associated with development related infrastructures.
Mendota Heights in 2003 had $282,300 of revenue from building permits and $245,300 of expenses
corresponding to that revenue. In 2002 our expenses were only slightly greater than the revenue we received
from building permits.
2005 PARK PROJECTS APPROVED
The City Council at their Tuesday meeting approved all of the Parks Commissions 2005 requests for Capital
Improvements that were discussed in last Friday’s News.
CITY HALL CLOSED THANKSGIVING
Next week will be a short-week as City Hall will be closed Thursday for Thanksgiving. Some employees
will be taking time off on Wednesday for travel or taking Friday off for an extended weekend. Friday will be
business as usual, but most likely staffing will be at a minimum. Hope everyone has a nice Thanksgiving.
Respectfully Submitted,
Jim Danielson
City Administrator
