Patch to Cover Mendota Heights
City staff met this week with a representative from Patch.com who
informed us that Mendota Heights will soon start to be covered by
their organization. Patch.com is an online hub for local news, events
and information. Patch.com is coming to Minnesota after being
active in a number of other states around the nation. You will be
able to get updates on local news, research events in the community
and discover new restaurants, shops and other businesses in town.
The launch date for the Mendota Heights site is early December of
this year. The website address will be mendotaheights.patch. com.
Please check out this site once it starts operation and share Mendota
Heights news, events and information.
F Comprehensive Pian
The Metropolitan Council formally approved the Mendota Heights 2030
Comprehensive Plan at their meeting on Wednesday, October 13, 2010. This is the
R
culmination of years worth of work by the City Council, Planning Commission,
residents and city staff. The Comprehensive Plan is the city's guidebook for
I development and redevelopment for the next 20 years. Even though Mendota
Heights is almost completely developed, it is still very important that we have this
type of plan in place as our city redesigns itself in the coming decades. While this
® approval wraps up years of work, discussion on how to improve the process and
shorten the amount of time it will take to complete and update our next plan has
already started with city staff. Work on the 2040 Mendota Heights Comprehensive
A Plan will start in 2018 so please do not forget where you store your files on your
thoughts and vision for the next comprehensive plan.
YMendoberri Open for Business
The newest Mendota Heights restaurant opened for business this week. Mendoberri,
located in The Village, offers both a sit down setting and a to go option for their product.
They offer gourmet meals featuring organic products from local farmers and producers.
N Please take the time to check out the newest business offering in Mendota Heights.
The owners of Mendoberri are very excited to offer this type of dining in our city and
have been a pleasure to work with. Mendoberri represents another new business in
EMendota Heights during a tough economic time. Mendota Heights continues to thrive
with new businesses like this, please stop in and check it out!

interested in serving on one of our advisory commissions in 2011. The deadline to
submit letters of interest is Friday, December 10, 2010. Finally, the annual Firefighters
Dance is set for Saturday, November 13, 2010 at Royal Cliff. Tickets can be

Airport Relations Commission Meeting
The October 2010 Airport Relations Commission meeting was held this week and it was televised
so residents could see two important issues that were discussed. Our MAC representative John
McClung was in attendance to introduce himself and talk airport issues with the commissioners.
In addition, staff from the MAC were in attendance to show the members a live demonstration of
the new real time flight tracking program available on the MAC website. If you are interested in
watching this meeting you can check it out online or watch for the rebroadcast on Town Square
Television.
Water Tower Back to Normal
As you can see from driving past the water tower this week, the "former" look of the water tower
has now been restored. Our contractor has completed almost all of the work on the project
including the painting. Staff did receive a few comments from residents over the summer about
the multi -colored look the tower had while it went through the different phases of the project.
Staff is very happy to report that the work is near completion and the tower looks great with its
new coat of paint. Nice job to those involved and thank you to Public Works for your patience
over the summer with the noise and traffic at your facility.

DWI Saturday 1945 hours
Sgt. Convery observed a vehicle being operated without headlights and failed to stop
for a stop sign at Market and Linden Streets. Driver did poorly on field sobriety tests,
and submitted to a PBT with a result of .208 BAC. The driver submitted to a blood
test. Charges pending results from the MN BCA Lab.
DOC/Detox Sunday 0142 hours
Officer Wilson was patrolling the Moose Country parking lot during closing time
when he observed a male fighting with several Moose Country staff members. The
struggle began after they kicked the gent out: he immediately began urinating on the
parked cars. Officer Willson exited his squad, identified himself as a police officer
and told the male to stop. The intoxicated male took off running from Officer Willson
SB on Hwy 13. Officer Willson and Reserve Officer Messina caught up to the
suspect a short distance from the parking lot and took him into custody. The suspect
blew a .238 on a PBT. He was cited for disorderly conduct and fleeing from police
and taken to detox.
Burglary Monday 1406 hours
Officer Patrick responded to a residence on report of a theft from a residence. Upon
arrival, he spoke with the homeowner and learned that while the family attended a
football game outside the city, someone entered their unlocked home. Upon their
return, they found two backpacks had been stolen with miscellaneous items,
including a calculator, in each, and an I -Pod and their X -box had also been taken.
Their family dog had been "guarding" the house, but she seemed calm upon their
return and the neighbors did not report hearing any barking. Case referred to
investigations.
Theft from Vehicle Monday 1557 hours
Officer Patrick was soon also called to the other side of town, where the a juvenile
vehicle owner found that someone had entered his vehicle, while he was also at the
same football game outside the city, and had stolen a backpack with a calculator
inside. Case referred to investigations as well.
Suspicion Tuesday 0210 hours
Officer VonFeldt was dispatched to the area of Sibley High School on a 911 hang up
call where the female caller was screaming for help, and then the phone went dead.
Officer VonFeldt and Officer Shepard searched the area extensively on foot and
could not locate anyone. Dispatch was unable to "ping" the phone as it had been
turned off immediately after making the 911 call.
Detox Wednesday 1858 hours
Officer Rosse was dispatched to a local chemical dependency facility for a female
resident who was possibly intoxicated. Upon arrival, the female resident had slurred
speech and smelled of alcohol; however, she adamantly denied drinking until she
took a PBT test, which showed her BAC to be .14. Then she started crying and got
belligerent with officers. She advised officers that she could not go to jail or detox as
she had court in Ramsey County the next morning for ....... you guessed it, a DWI
arrest! She was transported to detox per Dakota County Crisis.
Have a great week! Eric and Kim - 2 -
