Parks Celebration A Success
The Parks Celebration was a success! Our Recreation Programmer, Teresa Gangelhoff, once
again did an outstanding job in planning and organizing this annual event! Thanks for all of your
hard work, Teresa!! Thank you also to our own Council Members Sandra Krebsbach and Ultan
Duggan, Parks Commissioner Dave Libra, Larry Craighead, and Paul Portz; City employees
Judy Wonick, Janet Bolger, Mario Reyes, Brian Convery, and Bekky Trost; and the Fire and
Parks Departments for their generous volunteer time and contributions! Thank you to all of the
area businesses for their generous donations. With all of your help and support, this event has
become a wonderful tradition. Thank you once again to everyone who was a part of the Annual
Parks Celebration.
Skate Park at Roger’s Lake Park
th
Ramps and obstacles will be delivered and installed sometime around June 20. A ten-foot wide
access gate to the former tennis courts was installed last week. Earlier this week, Public Works
employees used an acetylene torch to cut off the net poles and will patch the holes to level the
old court surface. Informational signage with “Rules of the Park” has also been ordered and will
be mounted at the skate park.
MSP Noise Oversight Committee Convenes
At long last, the much-awaited MSP Noise Oversight Committee (NOC) has begun to meet. One
of the first items that this body will be discussion is the Part 150 revision process. Please see the
attached agenda for the MAC Full Commission meeting at 1:00 pm on Monday, June 16, 2003,
including item A8 on the consent agenda. The Metropolitan Airports Commission will be
considering approval of the forecast update provided by HNTB for use in developing the Part
150 revision. This revision will lead to a new set of noise contours that will determine future
noise insulation. Please also see the attached memorandum from Chad Leqve, Manager of the
Aviation Noise and Satellite Programs to the NOC dated June 11, 2003 regarding the forecast
projection and the Part 150 update process.
