Upgrades to Cablecast Equipment
During this week the sounds of drills, saws, and hammers have been heard coming from
the Council Chambers as technicians work to install new components that are part of the
cablecast equipment upgrades. Work will be halted and temporary provisions made by Tuesday
so that the regularly scheduled Council meeting can be cablecast live. When the upgrades are
finished the mobile cablecast equipment rack, located at the back of the chambers will be gone,
relocated into the storage room behind the Council Chambers. On Tuesday the most significant
which do not have an on/off
change that Council members will notice is the new microphones,
switchcontinuously
. The new microphones, once activated by the cablecast technician, will be
live
unless muted by holding down the center button (sometimes referred to as the "cough
button") located on the microphone base. When all of the upgrades are completed the cablecast
technician will no longer be located in the Council Chambers but will be situated in the room
behind the chambers with the cable equipment control racks and will monitor the chambers
through the four ceiling mounted cameras. All work, including the soon to arrive console cart
(companion to the podium), should be completed by March.
Ground Breaking at Town Center
Ross Fefercorn is beginning the construction of his row townhouses along Oak Street this
coming week. The work should actually be underway. Ross has scheduled a Ground Breaking
Ceremony to celebrate the event, beginning at noon on Monday. Hopefully the weather
cooperates. He was planning on having Caribou Coffee and some other goodies available. He
may have a bonfire going for people to warm up at if the weather is cold. He is inviting the CDA
(Kari Gill and Mark Ulfers), Met Council representatives, including Rick Aquiler and Tom Egan
and Cari Lindberg, to name a few.
50 Year Celebration
Emmy and I met with Bill Wolston on Thursday. Emmy interviewed him to be a featured
resident in the upcoming Heights Highlites. The City turns 50 in 2006, and Bill has volunteered
to help the City put together a document celebrating that milestone. I talked to him about his
progress on that work. Bill is worried. He has not gotten many volunteers and he needs
“bodies” to help him with the project. He is in the “gathering” phase and has had quite a bit of
success in gathering information and ideas, but he needs help in putting the information together.
If anyone knows someone who likes history and would like to help with this project, please have
them contact me and I will get their names to Bill.
