Once in a while it doesn't hurt to speak with those people and ask if your child is doing anything unsafe. Eò›Ùù㫮Ħ ®Ä Ãʗ›Ùƒã®ÊÄ Facebook is a great way to interact with others but can also get in the way of real life socializaƟon. Hiding behind a screen can make a child feel like they cant be touched and will say anything to anyone. Whether person to person or through Facebook, the respect sƟll needs to adhere. Facebook usage should be monitored just as TV, video games and other screens. It would be helpful to also be on social media to monitor their acƟons. Talk with your child about what they are doing online and seeing to create an open and honest relaƟonship. KÄÊó 㫛 Ù®Ý»Ý ƒÄ— ›Ä›¥®ãÝ Ê¥ Ýʑ®ƒ½ ۗ®ƒ Facebook is an amazing world yet a terrifying world. It is an opportunity to be exposed to new people, new ideas, family members, far off locaƟons and events. They are also exposed to potenƟal predators and scam arƟsts making them easy prey. Talk with your children about all of the potenƟal threats. 2 2 Theft from Vehicle Friday 12:00 hours Officer Jenny Fordham responded to a resident who reported that his GPS was taken from his vehicle which was parked on the street overnight. There was no damage to the vehicle and no other items were missing. No suspects or witnesses. Welfare Check Friday 20:20 hours Officer Robin Nelson was called to a check on a male who had been sleeping on a bench by a walking path for three hours. A check on the male indicated that he was intoxicated. The male was transported to his sister’s home where he is currently residing. Third Degree Assault Saturday 02:14 hours Officers Nick Gorgos, Robin Nelson and Steve Hilyar were dispatched to an assault which had occurred at a local bar. The victim stated that two intoxicated females had gotten into a verbal argument earlier in the evening and as the victim was leaving the bar a physical altercation took place. This case is under investigation and charges are pending. Theft Saturday 13:43 hours Officer Robin Nelson was dispatched to a report of a theft. The reporting party stated he was in a local business parking lot when he witnessed another vehicle circle the same parking lot several times and then take a sign and drive away. The owner of the sign who sells his sign art at a different location and stated the sign which was stolen sells for $100. The reporting party was unable to get an accurate license plate number but the business owner stated he does have video footage of the parking lot. This case is under investigation. Shoplifting Monday 13:48 hours Officer John Larrive took a shoplifting report. Upon arrival he was told by the store clerk that the suspect had left the store 15 minutes before calling the police. The store surveillance shows the suspect taking items off of the shelf and placing them in her large purse. A license plate was obtained from the vehicle in which the suspect drove. Follow up on the vehicle’s registered owner is pending and this case remains under investigation. Burglary Monday 14:08 hours Officer Jenny Fordham responded to a theft of cell phone report at a residence. The victim stated he was inside the home, which is for sale and vacant, working as a painter when he heard some noise by the front door. He saw the suspect male standing by the front door. The suspect ran out the door and drove away. When the painter went back inside the house he noticed his cell phone was gone. The victim was able to provide a description of the suspect and vehicle. The phone was located in St. Paul and the case is under investigation. Possession of Marijuana Tuesday 00:01 hours Officers Steve Hilyar and Jeff VonFeldt were on patrol when they spotted an unoccupied car parked in the park’s parking lot. Officers located three individuals in the park smoking marijuana. All three were cited for Possession of Marijuana, the marijuana was seized and the individuals were sent from the park. 3 3 Medical Crisis Tuesday 11:42 hours Sgt. Eric Petersen and Officer John Larrive were dispatched to a home on report that an adult daughter at the home was out of control. Upon arrival officers learned that the daughter who has been diagnosed with mental illness was agitated and confused. Officers were able to calm her down and she volunteered to go with paramedics for a mental health evaluation at the hospital. Found Property Tuesday 13:46 hours Officer John Larrive took a found property report from a resident who stated he found a bike in the park which had been abandoned for at least a week. The bike was taken to the police department for safekeeping until the owner has been found. Gas Drive-Off Wednesday 15:47 hours Officer John Larrive took gas drive off report. The gas station clerk was unable to provide a license plate to the suspect vehicle or suspect description. There are no witnesses to the crime. Case is inactive. Identity Theft/Fraud Wednesday 13:05 hours Sgt. Tanner Spicer met with a victim of identity theft at the MH Police Department. The victim stated he found two charges on his credit card statement which he did not authorize. The victim contacted his bank and discovered that a loan he had taken out had been sold to another lender and at that time his account and personal information had been compromised. The bank has reimbursed the victim for his financial loss and the case has been forwarded to the Milwaukee Police Department for a possible suspect. Property Damage Accident Thursday 13:38 hours Officer John Larrive responded to a motor vehicle accident which was the result of road rage. One vehicle was driving slowly in the left lane not allowing another driver to pass. When the second driver eventually did pass the first vehicle honked his horn because the second driver got in front of him and cut him off. The second driver told Officer Larrive he got behind the other driver who then slammed on his brakes and hit his van. Officer Larrive cited the angry driver with Reckless Driving and Following a Vehicle Closer than Reasonable.
