Facebook is a great way to interact with others but can also get in the way of real life
socializaƟon. Hiding behind a screen can make a child feel like they cant be touched
and will say anything to anyone. Whether person to person or through Facebook,
the respect sƟll needs to adhere. Facebook usage should be monitored just as TV,
video games and other screens.

Even if you don’t like social media, chances are your child will eventually want an
account. It would be helpful to also be on social media to monitor their acƟons.
Talk with your child about what they are doing online and seeing to create an open
and honest relaƟonship.

Facebook is an amazing world yet a terrifying world. It is an opportunity to be
exposed to new people, new ideas, family members, far off locaƟons and events.
They are also exposed to potenƟal predators and scam arƟsts making them easy
prey. Talk with your children about all of the potenƟal threats.
