1 The meeting convened at 810 D.m. at the village fire hall with Ed. Stringer, Dick
Bancroft and Hardy Wright preeent. •Dale Pollack represented the conealtante. Present
re case 64-21 were Mr, 4'and Mrs. Kalaus; re case 64-22 was Don Kimmel; re case 64-24,
Don Leeher; re 64-23, Msars. Bream and Tonminelli.
Case 64-21 - John Carl Kalaus, 705 - let Avenue
Reqaeet; To have alley running through owners° lots vacated.
Depositions Motion by Wright, seconded by Bancroft, that the entire alley in Block 4,
T.T.Smitlee Sub. 03 be vacated, or ig that is not feasible, that the portion of the
alley covered in the application be vacated. Ayes 3, naye 0. Reasons given are
contained in the consaltant9e report and in line item two in that report it was
further rested that the consultants investigate the feasibility of vacating the
other alleys in the subdivieion.
3 Cass 64-22 - Don Kimmel, 659 - 2nd Avenue
Request; Five foot side yard variance to build on one of three lots
Disposition; Motion by Bancroft, second by Wright, that the application be denied.
Ayes 3, nayes 0. Reasons given for the recommendation were (1) that the scale of
development existing in the area does not warrant future confinement of homes to
single lots as platted and (2) that one or tea rather than three building sites
on the property would not work a hardship on the owner.
4 Case 64-24 - Don Besher, 1010 Hwy. 100 - re lots 23-24, Posavad Addition (Chippewa, eve.)
Requeet; For ruling on whether the two lots as one site are buildable
Disposition; Motion by Wright. second by Bancroft that the commission recommend to the
council that the two lots as one site be recognized as buildable. Ayes 3, nayes 0.
Re sons given for the reoommendation were adeqaate frontage, availability of public
facilities, proposal in scale with existing development in the nAghborhood and in line
with policy outlined in previous recommendation on lot eine minimus for the neighborhood.
5 Case 64-20 - Mendota Development Co., 1386 .7th St. - lvy Falls East
Request; Approval of preliminary plat
Disposition; Motion by Stringer, second by Wright that the commission recommend to the
council that the application be approved sabject to negotiation with the council on
provision for parks and playgrounde. Ayes 3, naves 0. Considered in the recommendation
were review and approval of the consultants and prior investigation of the poseibility
of platting two adjacent 5 acre tracts and outline of pasible plans for the subdivision
of those properties in conjunction with the preliminary plat snbmitted. The Pecammendar-
tion was farther made couditional upon approval of Onvillage engineer.
6 Case 64-20 - Mervin F. Noah - location of.mobile home on Bwy.100 [cf.7-8-64,para.8]
Motion by Bancroft, second by Wright that the application be denied for the reasons
outlined in the conoultants report. Ayes 3, nayes 0.
? Case 64-16 - F. M. Wohlers - 641 Ewy.100 - basement garage [cf.7-8-64, para. 9]
Motion by Wright, second by Bancroft that the commission recommend to the council
that the application be approved an the basis of on-site inspection and the consultant
report. Ayes 3, nayee 00
8 Case 64-15 - Richard Randall - Agreed to write applicant explaining the commissions
position and asking him to attend next meeting.
9 Ed Stringer°s suggestion that the commission engage in more planning activity including
formulation of desired ordinancee, and that members consider enrolling in a municipal
planning COUTBO at the Log M., were favorably received.
10 The meeting adjoarned at 11:15 p.m.
