Res 2015- 24 Designate TH149 as Officer Patrick Memorial HwyCITY OF MENDOTA HEIGHTS DAKOTA COUNTY, MINNESOTA RESOLUTION 2015 - 24 RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE DESIGNATION OF A SEGMENT OF TRUNK HIGHWAY 149 IN MENDOTA HEIGHTS, AND WEST SAINT PAUL, TO BE "OFFICER SCOTT PATRICK MEMORIAL HIGHWAY" WHEREAS, on July 30, 2014 Mendota Heights Police Officer Scott Patrick was killed in the line of duty while making a traffic stop on Trunk Highway 149, known locally as Dodd Road, in West Saint Paul, Minnesota; and WHEREAS, this tragic event impacted the entire community of Mendota Heights, and devastated Officer Patrick's family and his colleagues on the Mendota Heights Police Department; and WHEREAS, a suitable memorial recognizing in perpetuity the sacrifice of Officer Patrick and his family is both fitting and appropriate; and WHEREAS, the family of Officer Scott Patrick has requested that a portion of Trunk Highway 149 in both Mendota Heights and West Saint Paul be designated to the memory of Officer Patrick; and WHEREAS, legislation has been introduced in the 2015 Session of the Minnesota Legislature to act upon this request, and WHEREAS, while the highway will continue to be known as Dodd Road for legal and addressing purposes, the Mayor and City Council of the City of Mendota Heights feel that the requested action is both appropriate and timely. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Mendota Heights City Council that it requests the State of Minnesota to take action to officially designate the segment of Trunk Highway149, from the interchange with signed Highway 494, through Mendota Heights, and to terminate at the intersection of Smith Avenue in West Saint Paul, to be: "Officer Scott Patrick Memorial Highway" Adopted by the City Council of the City of Mendota Heights this 17th day of March, 2015.
