AIRPORT RELATIONS COMMISSION MINUTES
May 7, 2014
The regular meeting of the Mendota Heights Airport Relations Commission was held on Wednesday, May 7,
2014 at 7:00 p.m. at 1101 Victoria Curve, Mendota Heights, Minnesota.
The following commissioners were present: David Sloan, William Dunn, Gina Norling, Jim Neuharth, Paul Portz,
and Sally Lorberbaum
Absent: Kevin Byrnes (Excused)
Also present: Councilmember Liz Petschel, City Administrator Justin Miller
Approval of Minutes
Lorberbaum made a motion, seconded by Neuharth, to approve the April 9, 2014 minutes as presented. All voted
in favor.
June Televised Meeting

The commission discussed the four items listed as potential topics for the June 11 televised meeting. After
discussion, it was decided that the order of the agenda should be 1) ARC presentation, 2) Contour Report, 3)
Corridor Compliance Report, and 4) MSP Airport Improvements. It was also suggested that when each member
gives his or her update that it be limited to 2-3 minutes. The goal of the meeting will be to be done within an hour
or hour and a half.
MAC Correspondence Discussion
Miller updated the commission on the correspondence he had received from MAC staff as a result of questions the
commission had asked. Councilmember Petschel then updated the commission on various areas of interest,
including RNAV, proposed legislation regarding the Noise Oversight Committee, the findings of MAC’s corridor

compliance and runway use system reports, and the July 29 MAC listening session which will be held in
Mendota Heights. The commission also discussed the possibility of recommending a resolution to the city council
that would highlight the city’s concerns with the FAA’s interpretation of “compliant” departures within the
Eagan/Mendota Heights corridor.
Future Speakers
Ideas submitted for future speakers and visitors to the commission included:
State and federal legislators
Delta Chief Pilot Bill Underwood (also member of NOC)
FAA representatives
Sun Country representatives
Miller indicated that he would begin lining up speakers for meetings beginning in August, since the June and July
meetings are already booked.
Reports of Areas of Focus
Commissioners noted that there were no noteworthy items to discuss within their areas of focus this month.

Neuharth made a motion, seconded by Dunn, to adjourn the meeting at 8:46 pm. All voted in favor.
